In Dasha and Mike’s Group, they performed the poem “The Everyday Enchantment of Music” perfectly by using body language and different explanations of the poem. The poem is basically about how music can appeal to emotion. In the poem, the poet uses a lot of symbols of emotion, which can make the readers have pictures in their minds that people can strongly feel the power of music. In the group, the narrator talks about how music can affect our emotions. Another actor uses body language that seems to tell us how background music affects his emotions. They emphasized the importance of music in our daily lives. The combination of the narrator’s words and the actor’s body language is so good that it let me think about how music makes me emotional and sensitive in my daily life. The poem itself has a theoretical point about how can music influence people’s emotions. The performance gives the audience and the readers one specific example of emotional music. Actually, when I first started this poem, I cannot get the main point straightforwardly, but with the performance, I can feel the power of music and how music changes our lives.
In Amy and Lily’s group, they performed the poem: The Red Wheelbarrow. When I first read this poem, I could not get the main point of this poem. In my perspective, this poem is just a scenario that the poet saw. However, this performance gave the poem a background story. It mainly talks about a girl who grows in the rural area and takes care of her family farm, which makes more sense to me. When I went back and read that poem again, I could feel the beautiful landscape of the farm and the rural area. By the performance, I can touch the pure life of a girl in the country. This group brings a story of this poem, which tells us how the poet saw these beautiful landscapes. The white chicken, an adorable squirrel, and a pure girl from the country become alive on the stage. The audience can get the main point of this poem and feel the beautiful landscape in the rural areas.
